Spent $9 on a rotisserie chicken at Costco and got 5 meals out of it, so why did I buy chicken breast for so long
I used to grab the $5 packs of boneless skinless breast at Aldi every trip because I thought it was the cheapest protein per pound. Then a buddy told me to actually do the math on a $9 rotisserie chicken from the Costco on Coleman Ave, and I got 5 meals out of that one bird, plus stock from the bones. That works out to under $2 a meal for the meat alone, and the breast packs were costing me more because I was tossing the trim and never getting full use. I know the sodium is higher and some people hate picking it apart, but for weeknight tacos and rice bowls it's hard to beat. What's everyone else's go to cheap protein that actually holds up when you break down the cost per serving?
