Had to choose between a night hostel vs a 3am bus ride in Lisbon

Last month I was stuck in Lisbon and my hostel doubled the price for a Friday night. I had to pick between paying 45 euros for a shared dorm or taking a 3am FlixBus to Madrid for 15 euros. I went with the bus thinking I could sleep on it. Big mistake, the AC was broken and the guy next to me snored like a chainsaw for 6 hours straight. Got to Madrid at 9am feeling like a zombie and wasted the first day napping. Has anyone else tried the overnight bus strategy and actually made it work?

Man, that's rough. 15 euros for a nightmare trip. I've been there with cheap travel before. You think you're getting a deal and then it's just chaos. Really sorry you had to go through that. Hope the rest of your trip was better.
