Spent 45 minutes trying to figure out why my fries were soggy

Is it really that deep though? I mean yeah soggy fries aren't ideal but I've definitely eaten a few sad batches when I was too lazy to preheat. They still got eaten, just with a little extra ketchup. Honestly I think people act like air fryers are some sacred technology when it's just a tiny oven.

A fellow nomad told me to ditch my noise cancelling headphones for two weeks straight

Wait wait wait, your headphones just BROKE in Bangkok and you didn't immediately panic-buy a replacement pair from the nearest 7-Eleven? That's wild to me. I feel like I would've been so lost without them, especially in a place that loud and chaotic. But the stranger asking for directions thing really got me - I've always avoided eye contact with people on the street because I'm buried in my headphones, so I've probably missed so many random encounters like that. Now I'm wondering how many times someone tried to ask me something and I just walked past them thinking they were talking to someone else.

Pro tip: I used to think my old Wacom tablet was fine until I saw a demo at the art store in Columbus last month

I mean, the iPad thing is interesting because isn't that kind of a different beast? Like, with a tablet you're still looking at your monitor, but on an iPad you're drawing directly on the screen. Does the tilt feel that much different when you're not dealing with the hand-eye coordination gap? Or is it more about how the pen itself glides on the glass? I've never tried one so I'm genuinely curious.

Finally finished the Long Trail in Vermont after 3 failed attempts

Oh man congrats on finishing! That is no joke the Long Trail is brutal. I can totally relate to the gear swap thing. I did the exact same thing a couple years ago but with my pack weight. I was carrying this 65 liter monster and switching to a 40 liter frameless pack changed everything. Suddenly I could move faster and my feet didn't hurt as much because I wasn't hauling 40 pounds of junk. And then I started using trail runners too and that was like another upgrade. It's wild how one little change like shoes or pack size can make or break a thru hike. Glad you finally got it done my friend.

My neighbor said my vegetable garden looked 'too neat' to be healthy

I read something about that "trap crop" idea, how it can backfire if the plants you leave are too happy and spread.
