My flight to Lisbon went from $850 to $420 in three days

I was checking flights for a trip in October and saw a basic economy seat for $850. I set a price alert and kept looking. Three days later, the same flight dropped to $420 because I was searching on a Tuesday morning, which my friend says is when airlines often update prices. I booked it right then. Has anyone else seen a big price drop by changing when they search?

Oh man, that's awesome! I had the same thing happen with a flight to Denver. It was sitting at like $300 for weeks, and I just kept checking it every morning. One random Thursday it just plunged to $145. I grabbed it so fast. I swear, just checking at different times of day, not even different days, can make a huge difference.

Set a price alert on Google Flights and just wait. Mine went off at 2 am for a flight that dropped by half, and I booked it right then. The bots watch prices so you don't have to.

$420 to $850 is a pretty big swing but I dunno if I'd call it a serious pattern. I've seen prices bounce around like that and it could just be a glitch or a one-off sale. I watched a flight to Chicago do the same thing once drop from $600 to $310 and then go right back up the next day. I grabbed it and felt like a genius but when I checked later it was actually cheaper on a different day without the drama. People put way too much stock in Tuesday mornings and 2 am alerts when airlines just mess with pricing to test demand.
