Spent $40 on a local SIM card in Bangkok and it was a game changer

I mean, I was worried about roaming fees so I grabbed a tourist SIM at the airport. It gave me 15GB of data for a week, which meant I could use maps and find cheap street food spots without getting lost. Has anyone tried the eSIM options there instead?

Man, I bet the roaming fees would've cost more than your whole flight lol.

So what's the actual damage on those roaming fees?

My last trip, I was so worried about data I actually printed out MapQuest directions from the hotel computer. I felt like a tourist from 2004. The local SIM was a lifesaver after that little time warp. I haven't tried an eSIM myself, I'm always a bit slow to switch to new tech. I'd be curious to hear if they are easier to set up than the physical card.
