inRant: Saw a coffee shop in Portland with a 'no laptops' sign after 3pm
Oh man, libraries are seriously underrated for this. I did the exact same thing after getting the boot from a hipster coffee shop in Portland that had a "2 hour max" rule for laptops. Now I just scope out the nearest library whenever I'm in a new city. Some of them are honestly nicer than the cafes I used to go to. The one I hit up in Austin had these huge desks with built-in outlets and you could book a private study room for like 3 hours at a time. Never had a single person ask me to leave or buy something. Plus nobody gives you dirty looks for eating a granola bar at your desk.

Kinda depends on the boss though. Some people see you handle chaos and just give you more chaos to deal with, not actual trust or growth. Been burned by that enough to be careful about seeing it as automatically positive.

inJust realized the local 'tool library' in my town actually works
@angela_allen53 Yeah, right until it rains for 300 days straight. Then we'll see how "taking off" it is.

inShoutout to the old guys who taught me to sharpen by hand
Notice how @janab82's point about shortcuts means we never learn to fix our own mistakes. Like if your GPS fails, you're just lost, but if you learned the route you could find your way back. That basic knowledge is a safety net we're throwing away.

inSpotted a hidden gem in the new library's media section
Honestly, @graceprice, this feels like a quiet pushback against all the streaming price hikes lately.
