My coworker swore by the 'dollar store for cleaning supplies' trick, wasted $40

Jenna from accounting kept saying you can save so much by getting dish soap and sponges at the dollar store. I tried it last month and the soap was so watery I used triple the amount. Plus the sponges fell apart after three days. Has anyone else found a better place to stock up on cleaning stuff without getting ripped off?

Honestly I read somewhere that the dollar store stuff is mostly just water and fragrance, no actual cleaning power. You're better off hitting up a regular grocery store when they have sales on name brand stuff. I grab the big bottles of Dawn when they're on sale and they last me months. Even Costco or Sam's Club can be worth it if you have the space, just split the cost with a friend. Those sponges you mentioned though, yeah I had the same issue, they're basically just scratch pads that dissolve.

Ended up using a hotel sample bottle of dish soap for three days after my dollar store disaster.
