Rant: I read that the average American spends $1,500 a year on impulse buys at checkout lines.

I saw that stat in a report from the Federal Reserve last week, and now I'm debating whether stores should remove those items or if it's just on us to have more self-control, what do you all think?

Absolutely, it's on us. Saw that same report and it made me check my own bank statement. Felt sick realizing how much I've dropped on gum, phone chargers, and those dumb little snacks just because they were right there. The stores are never going to remove that stuff, it's pure profit for them. We just have to be the adults and walk past it.

The checkout aisle is a test of willpower and we're all failing it.

On us to have self-control" is the real answer.
