My brother saw my habit tracker and asked why I was tracking coffee

I was showing him my bujo last night, and he pointed at my daily coffee check mark. He said, 'You're not tracking it, you're just writing it down.' It made me stop and think. I realized I was just logging it without any goal, like 'drink less' or 'switch to tea.' Now I'm redoing that spread to track my mood after each cup instead. Anyone else have a tracker that turned into just a list?

Is it just me or do we all fall into "tracking for the sake of tracking" way too often? I've noticed the same thing with my own bullet journal - half my trackers are just lists I fill out because I like checking boxes. It's weird how we can get so into logging stuff without ever stopping to ask what the point is.

My old water tracker was just a list of check marks for years. Switched it to note when I felt a headache coming on. That showed me I needed water by 10am, not just "more water". Your mood idea is solid. It turns data into something you can actually use.

My own tracker showed me I was always tired around 3pm. Linking it to my water intake made me realize I was just dehydrated, not actually needing a nap. That shift from just tracking to understanding cause and effect is a game changer. What was the biggest surprise you found when you started linking symptoms to your habits?
