Bought a $180 leather belt at a mall kiosk in Charlotte and it cracked in 5 months
I was at Concord Mills and the guy swore it was full grain leather, so I paid $180 for a belt with my initials stamped on it. Five months later the top layer peeled off like cheap cardboard and I could see the glued filler inside. My dad wore a $40 belt from a farm store for 15 years, so clearly I paid for the kiosk story and not the leather. Lesson learned, but has anyone actually bought a nice belt that lived up to it? Looking for one that lasts and does not feel like plastic.
Man, that kiosk guy probably stamps initials on belts that come off the same truck as the flea market ones. Real talk though, most "full grain" belts at malls are just split leather with a fancy top coat, and the giveaway is the edge, if you can see layers glued together instead of one solid piece, walk away.
