The $18 patch kit that beat my $120 boot resole debate
My hiking boots started peeling at the toe after 8 years, and I kept going back and forth between paying $120 to resole them or just getting new ones. Then my buddy at the bus stop told me to try a shoe goo style patch kit for $18, so I cleaned the area with rubbing alcohol, applied two thin layers, and clamped it overnight. Three months later the patch is still holding through mud and rain, but I am wondering if I just delayed the inevitable or actually extended the boots' life for real. Anyone else trusted a cheap repair over a proper rebuild and regretted it later, or did it surprise you too?

Man, you went from a $120 debate to an $18 "hold my beer" and it worked? That's either genius or the universe just messing with you before the boot falls apart mid-hike.
