Pro tip: the $45 shredder I grabbed at a garage sale cost me way more in the end
I picked up a used paper shredder at a garage sale on Oak Street back in March for $45, thinking I was saving a ton since new ones run over $100. Got it home, ran maybe 20 pages through it, and it jammed so bad the motor started smoking, so I had to toss the whole thing. Then I paid a shredding company $30 to deal with the stack of old bank papers and bills that had been piling up for two years. So I basically lit $75 on fire to avoid a $15 drop off fee at the UPS store down the road. Has anyone else gotten burned on a used appliance that seemed like a steal at the time?
