PSA: Free furniture pickup trick that actually saved my back
I’ve been trying to give away this heavy oak dresser for weeks on here with no takers. Then I realized I was just posting a photo and saying ‘come get it’ without offering to help load it. Last Wednesday I added a line saying I’d help carry it to their car, and two people messaged me that same evening. Has anyone else found that offering a tiny bit of help makes stuff vanish way faster?

My buddy Mark had the same problem with an old couch. He listed it four or five times with no luck, just a photo and "must haul yourself." Then he changed it to say he'd help get it down two flights of stairs and it was gone by the next afternoon. The guy who came even tipped him twenty bucks for the help. Honestly, people probably just don't want to deal with the heavy lifting part even if they want the furniture.

Oh that's a solid point about the stair help being the game changer. What worked for me was just being super upfront about the condition and measurements in the title. I had this old desk that nobody bit on until I measured it exactly and wrote "needs a little love but solid wood" right up front. The guy who grabbed it said he'd been skipping over my posts because he assumed it was particle board junk. Sometimes the missing piece is just a tiny detail that changes how people see it.
