Serious question, how is it possible that a basic bike tire patch took me 2 hours to finish?

Pulled out my old commuter bike to save on gas, and fixing a tiny pinhole leak in the rear tube turned into scraping off crusty glue for an hour before I even got the patch on. Has anyone else had a simple fix spiral into a whole afternoon project?

Oh man, my neighbor spent an entire Saturday just trying to get the chain back on his kid's bike.

I gotta disagree with you here @abby189, maybe that Saturday was exactly what the neighbor needed. You know how it is these days, everyone's glued to their screens and rushing around, so spending a whole day fiddling with a bike chain sounds kinda nice actually. It forces you to slow down, get your hands dirty, and really focus on one stupid little problem until you crack it. Plus the kid probably learned something too, like how things break and you gotta fix 'em instead of just throwing it away and buying a new one.
