I used to skip sanding between coats of finish, big mistake

For years I thought one good sand before the first coat was enough. Then last year I had a job for a kitchen in a new build where the client pointed out all these tiny bubbles and rough spots after I was done. I had to strip and redo three cabinet doors because the polyurethane looked terrible. Now I do a light 320 grit pass between every coat and it makes the final finish way smoother. Has anyone else learned this the hard way or am I the only one who thought skipping it was fine?

Ever tried skipping sanding between paint coats too? Same deal with the brush strokes showing up later. The extra time is totally worth it for that glassy finish.

My first house I painted the whole kitchen without sanding between coats. Looked decent for about a week then the brush marks showed up like a bad tattoo. I hear you @willow_garcia but I still think half the time it matters more what brush you use than how much you sand.
