PSA: I thought those magnetic drawer catch things were a total gimmick until I installed a set in a client's kitchen in Boulder last month.
The homeowner's toddler, who could previously open ANY drawer, spent a solid 20 minutes just slamming them shut over and over, completely baffled, and I haven't stopped laughing since.

My buddy's kid in Denver did that for a whole weekend.

Wasn't there a whole article about how this kind of thing is actually good for kid brain development? Like, the article said that when a toddler's expected result (drawer opens) doesn't happen, it forces them to update their little mental model of how the world works. They have to problem-solve, even if it's just slamming the drawer in frustration. I read it was way better for them than a totally boring, smooth environment where everything always works the same.

Imagine the pure confusion on that kid's face. Those little magnetic catches turn a simple cabinet into a genuine puzzle for tiny hands. It's the best kind of childproofing because it entertains the adults too.
