Unpopular opinion: Fancy design apps make simple cabinet plans way too hard
I spent ages trying to use that popular 3D design program for a client's built in bookcase. It kept freezing on me when I added shelves... and the learning curve was steep. Last week, I said forget it and just drew everything on graph paper first. Then I used a basic drafting tool to clean it up. It took half the time and the client loved the clear sketches. Sometimes going back to basics feels like a win when tech gets in the way.

I hear you saying it took half the time with graph paper, but that might just be for a one-off simple project. Those fancy apps are built to handle complex changes and client revisions without starting over. If your client wanted to move the shelves or change dimensions last minute, redrawing on paper would eat up that time saved. The software freezing is a bug issue, not a sign that basic tools are better for every job. It's more about using the right tool for the task, not ditching tech completely. My two cents is that sometimes the learning curve pays off when you avoid bigger headaches down the line.

Used to swear by graph paper, but your point on revisions convinced me.

See this everywhere, people overengineering simple stuff with tech.

Ever try quick paper sketches for revisions too? @anthonykelly, sometimes a pencil fixes things faster than a frozen program lol.
