Warning: don't trust pre-assembled drawer boxes from that big lumber yard
Picked up 8 pre-assembled drawer boxes from the HD on Federal last week for a kitchen job. Got them in the shop and the dovetails were loose on 3 of them with gaps you could fit a nickel in. Called the lumber yard and they said they've been getting complaints for about 2 months now from the same batch. Anyone else getting crap plywood boxes from out-of-state suppliers lately?

Cut ties with those big supplier warehouses for good this year, the quality slide is real across everything they touch now from cabinets to door hardware. It's the same story I'm seeing with fast fashion and cheap tools, where they pump out volume and hope nobody notices the corners they cut until you're stuck with the mess. Best move you can make is to vet every supplier like you're hiring a new worker for your crew.

Yeah I ran into the same mess about 3 months ago. Found a local guy who actually hand cuts dovetails and glues them up right. He's a bit more money but I haven't had a single box come apart on me since. Those big box store suppliers are just rushing crap out the door now. I tried calling the lumber yard about a return once and they basically said tough luck. Now I only order from small shops I know personally.
