Used a cheap fish tape on a 150ft conduit run and snapped it halfway through
Pulled one of those $8 fish tapes from Harbor Freight on a job in Phoenix last Tuesday and it snapped clean in the middle of a 150ft run. Had to cut open the conduit to get the cable out, wasted 3 hours of my day. Has anyone else had a budget tool fail at the worst possible time?

The older I get, the more I see this pattern everywhere - not just in tools, but in life. You buy the cheap thing because it saves you money today, but it ends up costing you twice as much in time and frustration tomorrow. That $8 fish tape is a perfect example. You saved maybe $30 upfront, then lost three hours of billable time plus had to cut open conduit. The real price of cheap tools shows up when you least expect it.
