Heard a kid call the Cartoon Cartoon Fridays block 'retro' and felt ancient

I was at my nephew's birthday party last Saturday and one of his friends saw an old Powerpuff Girls clip on my phone. He asked why I was watching 'retro cartoons' from the 90s. It hit me that shows I stayed up late to catch are now older than I was when I watched them. How do you folks explain to young people that Toonami and the old Boomerang channel were amazing?

Man just tell them those shows are basically the classic rock of cartoons now. The secret is you gotta just lean into it and play it off like a badge of honor instead of feeling old. When kids ask me about Toonami I straight up tell them they missed out on the golden age of TV and they gotta respect the classics. Pull up some old Boomerang bumps on YouTube next time they're around, the ones with the weird claymation characters, that usually gets their attention. They'll never understand staying up for Dragon Ball Z at 11pm but at least you can make them jealous about it.

Dude you're so right, staying up late for DBZ felt like a secret mission. I still remember the night my buddy and I tried to record it on VHS and the tape got eaten, tragic but legendary memory right there. You gotta own the old school cred, makes you look like a TV historian instead of just some old guy.
