That time my uncle swore satellite dishes would outlast cable boxes
Back in 1998 my uncle Bob in Dayton kept saying the big dish was the future and my family was dumb for sticking with Time Warner. He even showed me the fuzzy reception on his C-band system during a storm and claimed digital cable would crash by Y2K. Turns out he was dead wrong, by 2003 he had cable installed and I got to say I told you so at Thanksgiving. But honestly his advice did teach me to check out the local electronics shop's clearance rack for cheap coax cables, that saved me about $30 back then. Anyone else have a relative who swore by some outdated TV tech that fizzled out?

Wait, he showed you the fuzzy reception during a storm and STILL thought that was the winning side? That is wild. My grandpa had one of those giant dishes in his yard too and swore the picture was better than anything, meanwhile it looked like it was snowing on every channel.
