Lost my tent poles in a freak wind storm at Lake Tahoe last fall
I was set up at a campsite near Emerald Bay when a sudden gust came through and rolled my tent about 20 feet down a slope, bending both poles into useless pretzels. Ended up sleeping in my car that night and learned that my $60 tent wasn't built for anything above a light breeze. Has anyone found a decent budget tent that can actually handle gusty mountain conditions?

Honestly man, don't rule out just buying replacement poles for that cheap tent. Most budget tents use standard pole diameters, you can pick up a set for like $15-20 on Amazon and keep using the same tent.
