Replaced my tent stakes with snow pegs after a windy night in Yosemite
I used to think all tent stakes were pretty much the same, but last September I camped at Upper Pines and a gust ripped two of my cheap ones right out of the ground around 3 AM. I switched to 10 inch MSR Groundhogs on a buddies advice, and they held solid through the rest of the storm without bending. Has anyone else had a favorite brand of stake fail on them in a specific place?

Whoa, tent stakes ripped clean out of the ground?

Wait @casey393, that's crazy, the whole stake just came flying out with the tent fabric still attached?

My MSR Mini Groundhogs bent like cheap wire on me at Big Sur last spring, the ground was too hard for anything less than 6 inches. I switched to the 7.5 inch Groundhogs and they've held through coastal winds and rocky soil without any problems. What kind of stakes have you had the best luck with in your area?
