That time a park ranger in Bend, Oregon told me my tent was 'upside down'

I was setting up my new two-person dome tent at Tumalo State Park last fall, feeling pretty good about it. A ranger walked by, stopped, and said, 'You know, the rain fly goes on the outside, right?' I had clipped the inner tent to the poles but left the fly in a heap inside, thinking I'd put it on later. He wasn't mean, just kind of laughed and said, 'I've seen a lot of things, but that's a new one. The tent body is not a fancy floor mat.' I felt so silly, but it was a good lesson to actually read the quick-start guide. Has anyone else had a total face-palm moment with a simple piece of gear?

Remember trying to use my new sleeping bag as a stuff sack.

That seems like a pretty minor packing mistake.
