I stopped building my resume around job titles after a guy in Concord hired me for a role I'd never done
For years I wrote my resume as a list of titles and dates because that's what my dad told me to do back in 2012, and I figured that was just how it worked. Then a shop owner in Concord asked me one question in the interview, what did you actually fix, and I realized my resume said nothing about that. So I flipped it around and started writing down things like rebuilt a drain line in a 90 year old house in 4 hours instead of naming the jobs. Got two callbacks in a week after months of silence. Curious if anyone else dropped the title thing and what they put in its place.
Isn't this the same thing that happened with recipe books? People stopped caring about fancy chef names and just wanted to know if the dish actually turns out. Same with resumes, proof beats labels every time. A friend of mine did the same thing and started listing what she built instead of where she worked.
