Shoutout to the guy at the DMV in Tucson who said don't chase the promotion, chase the shift
Everybody on here preaches grind harder, take the title, get the raise. I got my CDL promoted to a route lead gig in Tucson at the DMV of all places waiting in line for 2 hours, and this older fella in front of me heard me on the phone bragging to my wife about the offer. He turned around and asked what it paid and what hours. Told him 2 more bucks an hour. He laughed and said he chased titles for 19 years and his kids grew up while he was chasing them. Told me to ask about the shift instead. I did. The route lead job was tues-sat starting at 4am. Passed on it, stayed where I was, switched to a tues-fri run instead. Same money. Home for dinner. Somebody tell me why we all pretend the title is the prize instead of the schedule.
