The city library's free career workshop changed how I apply for jobs

Last Tuesday I went to a workshop at the downtown library in Austin. The speaker showed us how to match keywords from the job posting to our resume. I used it on 3 applications and got 2 callbacks within a week. Has anyone else tried this method and seen a difference?

Hold up, let's not act like keyword matching is some magic trick. I mean, sure, it might help with the bots that scan resumes, but two callbacks from three tries? That's a tiny sample size. Could be luck or just a good week for your field. I'd be more impressed if you did this on like 20 jobs and tracked it over a month. And honestly, if the job posting is all buzzwords and the hiring manager actually reads your resume, they'll see through it fast. Matching words won't cover up a lack of real experience.
