Hit 100 applications and finally got a callback, but the number that shocked me was 3
I sent out 100 job applications over about 7 weeks after getting laid off from a logistics company in Columbus. I kept a spreadsheet to stay sane and when I counted it up, only 3 places ever replied, and 2 of those were auto rejections. What really got me was seeing that 61 of the postings were still marked open on LinkedIn even though some of them went up back in March. Has anyone else tracked their own reply rate, and did tailoring each resume actually move the number for you?
Yeah I did the same thing with a spreadsheet after my last layoff and my numbers were almost identical, I think I got like 4 replies out of 90 something. The LinkedIn thing drives me nuts too, I'd see jobs reposted every couple weeks like they're just collecting resumes for fun. I did try tailoring for a while but honestly it didn't seem to change much, though I know some people swear by it.
