My old boss in Cincinnati said to skip the cover letter, but a recruiter told me the opposite last week
Last week I grabbed coffee with a recruiter friend who has been hiring for 8 years, and she said she reads every cover letter before the resume. My old boss at the hardware store always said cover letters were a waste of time and that nobody reads them. Now I am stuck wondering if I have been cutting corners on my applications for 3 years. Do you all write one for every job, or only when the posting asks for it? I honestly cannot tell who is giving me the better advice.
