My resume went from zero callbacks to 4 interviews in 6 weeks, here's what I actually changed
I sent out maybe 60 applications between January and March and got nothing back, not even a rejection email. I was using the same one page resume for every job, just tweaking the job title at the top. Then a friend who works in HR at a hospital here in Charlotte looked at it and said the problem was it read like a job description instead of a list of things I did. So I rewrote every bullet to start with an action word and added a number to each one, like cut wait times by 15 percent or handled 40 calls a day. I also cut it from two pages down to one and got rid of the generic summary at the top. Six weeks later I had 4 interviews lined up and I'm now waiting to hear back on a second round. I'm not saying it works for everyone but I want to know if anyone else saw this big a jump from just changing how they wrote the bullets. What did you change that actually moved the needle for you?
