Spent $180 on a resume review and it got me a callback in 4 days
I was stuck applying to jobs for about 5 months with zero callbacks, so I finally paid a woman on Etsy $180 to tear my resume apart. She pointed out that my summary section was just fluff and told me to cut it to two lines with actual numbers in it. I rewrote it that night and had a phone screen by Friday, which never happened before. The weird part is I still don't know if it was worth the money or if I just needed someone to say my old one was bad. Has anyone else paid for a review like that, and did it stick for you or was it a one time fix?
Did you feel weird paying someone on Etsy for that? I did the same thing last year, $150 to some guy on Fiverr who basically told me my bullet points were trash and my summary was way too long. Fixed it up and got two interviews that same week, still not sure if the resume was really the problem or I just got lucky.
