Hot take: I chose a Japanese pull saw over a standard back saw for some tricky dovetails.
The thinner kerf gave me way more control on the small pine box I was building last month. Anyone have a favorite brand for hardwoods like maple?

What did you use before? I mean, I was with @wyatt_shah85 on the back saw thing until I tried a pull saw on some oak.

Grabbed a Gyokucho 265 for my last maple dovetail project and honestly felt like I was cheating with how clean the cuts were. The kerf is so thin I almost worry the joint might sneeze apart if I look at it wrong. But hey, at least I saved myself from having to wrestle with a back saw like some kind of medieval wood-chopping peasant. Just don't drop the damn thing or you'll be filing for a replacement blade divorce.
