I finally hit my 100th stair stringer yesterday and it changed my mind about jigs
I always free-handed stringers because I thought jigs were a waste of time lol, but after that 100th one I decided to try a store-bought jig and it cut my layout time in half. Has anyone else had a milestone that flipped their opinion on a tool?

Yeah I had almost the exact same turning point with my circular saw guide. Used to just freehand everything and relied on my eye for straight cuts. Then I was doing a deck with like 40+ cuts on PT 2x6s and rented a track saw setup for a weekend. It was painful how much time I spent marking and re-checking lines before that. Now I got my own track system and I won't go back for long runs. Jigs are for people who value their time more than their pride I guess.

Respectfully, freehanding teaches you to read the wood better though.
