Question about a weird number I hit on a custom table project

Just finished a 9 foot walnut slab table for a client in Austin, and when I tallied up the board feet I used, it came out to exactly 66.6. That number freaked me out a bit, not gonna lie. Has a weird measurement like that ever made you pause on a job?

Numbers are just numbers. It's a cool coincidence, but it doesn't mean anything. The table looks great, that's what matters.

Yeah, "just numbers" is right... people read into stuff way too much. I've seen clients get hung up on measurements being "perfect" numbers when the real test is if the thing works and looks right. A good table is a good table, the math behind it doesn't need to be magical.

Totally agree with you and @pathenderson both. I actually had a similar thing happen with a coffee table I built last year - the dimensions came out exactly to the golden ratio by accident, and I didn't even notice until a buddy pointed it out. It's just wood and angles, man. The table sits there, you put your coffee on it, it doesn't care what the numbers are. Pat's right too, I've seen folks stress over their measurements matching some ancient Greek math and it just messes up their whole project for no reason.
