Watched a treated 2x6 warp a full inch after a single rainy season because the client insisted on stacking them flat on the ground before install.

The lumber yard in Tacoma said it was kiln-dried and ready, but that moisture wicking from the concrete slab over 4 months ruined a $450 batch, so now I always demand they get stickered and covered on pallets.

I mean, I learned that lesson the hard way with some cedar fence pickets a few years back. I left a bundle sitting on my driveway for a weekend and they turned into perfect banana shapes. Now I look like a crazy person stickering everything, even the delivery pizza boxes.

Actually cedar is one of the more stable woods. Those pickets probably warped because they were stacked flat on the concrete, which traps moisture. You need to sticker them to let air flow underneath.
