My $15 slow cooker from a yard sale finally gave up the ghost last night, turning my planned bean stew into a cold, watery mess.

I mean, I guess I should've seen it coming after three years, but has anyone found a truly reliable cheap cooker that won't die mid-meal?

Honestly, that reminds me of my old rice cooker that started making this weird buzzing sound. It would cook everything fine but sounded like a tiny angry bee was trapped inside. Disagree about keeping a buzzing appliance. That noise usually means something is wrong inside, even if it still works. I'd replace it right away to avoid any safety issues.
