Pro tip: the $2 bin at the farmers market in Denver turned my soup game around
Ngl, last Saturday I grabbed a random bag of bruised peppers and wilting greens for a buck fifty since nobody else wanted them. Roasted everything with a can of beans and some rice, and it fed me for 3 days. Has anyone else had luck with the discount produce bins at their local markets?
That $2 bin story hit home because last month I found a whole flat of those fancy heirloom tomatoes that were way too soft for anyone to buy. I took them home and made a massive batch of tomato sauce that I froze in like 6 different containers. The crazy part is my roommate thought I was weird for grabbing them but then she ended up eating that sauce on pasta for a week straight. Now I always check the ugly produce section first before I even look at the normal stuff. It honestly feels like a little treasure hunt every time and I've gotten so much free stuff just cause people dont wanna deal with a couple bruises.
