Appreciation post: I quit brushing my flue with the poly brush and switched to the wire one
Honestly, I fought this for months, but after scraping creosote off a liner in Aurora that my poly brush just kept sliding over, I finally gave in. The wire brush got it done in about 20 minutes on a 30 foot run, and yeah it's heavier on the wrist by the end of the day. Any of you run wire full time, or do you keep both and pick based on the job?
Poly brushes actually do fine on most creosote, they just glaze over when it gets hard and shiny like that. Keeping both makes sense, wire for the baked on stuff and poly for the rest so you're not beating up the liner every time.
