DAE keep a piece of flexible dryer vent hose in the truck for sweeping tight flues?
Had a call in a 1920s bungalow over on Piedmont Ave last Tuesday and the flue had a jog about 3 feet down that my standard 8 inch brush on rods kept hanging up in. I cut a 2 foot chunk off a spare 4 inch dryer vent hose, taped it to the rod end, and it slid around that bend like nothing. Then I ran my regular brush down behind it and got a full bucket of soot instead of fighting the rod angle for 45 minutes. Anyone else use soft stuff like this for offset flues, or do you just carry a smaller brush and swap heads at the bend?
Been running a chunk of that flexible aluminum stuff for years on old chimney chases with offsets. It just bends where the rods can't and saves you from cussing at the brick for an hour. Smaller brush works too but swapping heads at every bend gets old fast.
