Old timer told me my brush strokes were too aggressive and he was right
Guy I met at a job in St. Louis watched me clean a flue and said I was scraping too hard, gonna wear down the liner. Cut back on the pressure and started using a softer poly brush and my work got way faster with less mess. Anyone else get called out for something they thought they were doing right?

You ever try using a whip on a poly brush? That changed my whole game. Less pressure on the liner but still gets the creosote off good. I used to scrape like I was digging for gold, now I let the brush do the work. Takes some getting used to but your arms will thank you after a long day.

Six months later I'd still be fumbling with the whip.
