Showerthought: Skipping sleep to finish jobs hurts more than helps

Most sweeps I know burn the midnight oil to get through busy seasons. I've learned that being tired leads to more slips and missed spots in the flue. Who else forces themselves to clock out early for better focus the next day?

You mentioned "slips and missed spots" when you're tired. I mean, do you find you catch those errors in the moment, or is it always looking back the next day? Idk, maybe it's just me, but I never see my own dumb mistakes until after I've slept on it.

Editing my blog post at midnight last week, I left in a whole sentence that made no sense. But honestly, is it that serious if we miss a few spots when tired? I've sent work emails with obvious typos and nothing bad happened. Most people just skim past small mistakes anyway. We all have off days, right? Do you really think anyone notices or cares as much as we do?

Ugh I feel this... my trick is to read the whole thing backwards, sentence by sentence. It forces your brain to see the words instead of what you meant to write. Or sometimes I use text to speech and listen for weird parts.
