Hit 10,000 steps in Rocky River Reservation last Saturday without even trying.
I was just walking my dog like usual and suddenly my watch buzzed to congratulate me. Anyone else accidentally hit fitness milestones while doing normal stuff around here?

@tyler492 you nailed it about the sloped trails. Edgewater's hills get me close to 12k without even realizing it, same with the towpath if you park a mile from your spot and walk the rest. Dogs are the real fitness coaches, mine drags me out rain or shine and I barely glance at the step count until the end of the day.

Ha, yeah, what @john_singh said about dogs being the real fitness coaches is exactly it. Mine thinks every walk is a life-or-death mission and won't let me cut it short, so I'm racking up miles whether I wanted to or not. I've noticed if I just let him pick the route along the towpath, we end up going way further than I planned because he wants to sniff every single bush. Plus those sloped sections at Edgewater really sneak up on you, my legs feel it the next day but my watch is happy.
Right? That fence project thing is exactly the kind of accidental workout that catches me off guard too. Last summer I spent an afternoon chasing leaves around the yard with a rake and hit 7,000 steps before lunch, felt like I cheated the system.

Oh man, that is the best feeling right? My watch did the same thing a few weeks back when I was just puttering around the backyard fixing up a fence. No music, no fancy workout plan, just me and a hammer and suddenly I was at 8,000 steps before noon. It really makes you realize how much moving around we do without even thinking about it. I bet a lot of the local trails around here have that same effect, especially the ones with a bit of slope. Good for your dog too, getting you both out there without making it feel like a chore.
