Spent two winters shoveling my West Blvd sidewalk wrong, and a neighbor finally said something
I've been piling snow up against my house foundation every storm for like three years, thinking I was being smart by keeping it off the walk. Last week my neighbor Dale, who's lived on West Blvd since the 80s, watched me do it and just said 'you're feeding the basement, bud.' Sure enough I've got water seeping in by the laundry sink every spring thaw and I always blamed the old pipes. Turns out all that snow melt runs right down the foundation wall and the ground is graded toward the house anyway. Anyone else on the west side dealt with this, and did fixing the grade actually help or am I looking at a sump pump too?
