That $8 garage door sensor fix saved me a service call
My west side garage kept reversing halfway down last week, and the tech wanted $120 just to look at it. Turns out the sensor lenses were just dusty and misaligned, a few wipes and a turn of the bracket fixed it in 10 minutes. Anyone else had a cheap DIY save on an older house out here?

Kind of funny how the "cheap fix" always gets all the credit until the sensor bracket corrodes or the wiring shorts out a year later. Dust and angle issues are easy, but these older houses have all sorts of hidden gremlins that a $120 diagnostic will actually CATCH before they become a bigger headache. I'd rather pay a pro to check the voltage and alignment with real tools than gamble my whole setup on a lucky wipe-down.
