Last month I swapped all my single-use plastic wrap for beeswax wraps
I finally got tired of throwing away a whole roll of cling wrap every week. So I ordered a pack of 3 beeswax wraps for $18 off Etsy. For the first week it was great, they held up fine on bowls and leftover plates. But by week three the wax started cracking because I was washing them with hot water. I looked it up and you're only supposed to use cool water and mild soap. Now i'm on week five and they're still going strong, no plastic waste at all. Has anyone else tried switching and had trouble with the care instructions?

Oh man, I totally did the same thing with hot water! I was like "I'll just give them a quick rinse" and boom, the wax started flaking off into my sink. It was such a bummer because I had just bragged to my friend about how eco-friendly I was being. I ended up having to rewax one of them with a cheap kit I found, which actually wasn't too hard. But yeah, the cool water thing is way more strict than I expected, I nearly ruined mine twice now. At least they're holding up way better than the plastic wrap ever did though!

Wait, you can actually rewax them with a kit? I had no idea that was even a thing, that's wild. @robert_smith36, you just saved me from tossing mine in the trash when they start flaking. I'm on week four with my wraps and I've been terrified to even look at them wrong, haha. I still use plastic wrap for meat though, I can't get past the idea of washing beeswax off raw chicken juice.
