My town's leaf blower ban just got reversed and now the gas ones are back on my block
Last Tuesday the city council here in Boulder voted 5 to 2 to roll back the leaf blower ban that passed in 2021, and by Saturday morning I counted four gas blowers going at once on my street. I had finally gotten used to the quiet electric ones, even though two of my neighbors griped the whole time about battery life. The whole thing started because a landscaping crew said the electric gear couldn't clear wet leaves after that big storm in May. Now I'm wondering if this was really about the leaves or just about who showed up to the meetings. Has anyone else watched a local climate rule get killed by a handful of angry people at a council meeting?

That exact thing happened in my city two years ago with a plastic bag ban that got tossed out after like six people showed up yelling about their dog poop bags. The folks who wanted the ban just assumed it would stick and stayed home, so of course the loud ones won the room. Guess the lesson is you gotta show up or the other side writes the rules.
