Spent $300 on a home energy monitor and it showed me where my money was going

Honestly, I got it last month after my electric bill hit $180. I hooked it up to my panel and watched the real-time data for a week. Turns out my old basement freezer was using almost a third of my power. I unplugged it and my bill dropped by $50 the next cycle. Has anyone else found a single appliance that was secretly costing a ton?

Totally agree with @the_margaret, I had to cook a bunch of stuff and give some away to my neighbors.

Wait, you had a whole freezer full of food and just unplugged it? I would have panicked trying to figure out where to put everything. Did you just have to throw out a bunch of steaks and frozen pizzas? That's a whole grocery bill gone right there, on top of the power it was using.

Wow, what did you do with the freezer's contents?
