Thought I'd save money by growing my own herbs on the windowsill.

Bought a basil plant from the grocery store for $3.99. It got huge, then all the leaves turned bitter overnight. My pesto tasted like medicine. Learned that basil bolts if it gets too hot. Anyone know a good, cheap herb that won't freak out in the sun?

Choosing between a Wahl Magic Clip and a Babyliss Pro for my main clipper

I had to pick a new main clipper for my chair at the shop in Tacoma. It came down to the Wahl Magic Clip for its known reliability or the Babyliss Pro for the power. I went with the Wahl, and after three months, the fade lever is already getting a bit sticky, which is a pain during a busy Saturday. Has anyone else had this issue and found a good fix, or should I have gone with the other one?

Serious question, are we overthinking the 16 inch stud spacing rule?

We argued it was overkill, but after hanging and finishing, the walls felt rock solid. Now I push for 12 inch spacing on any high end project, even though most guys think it's a waste of time and material. Has anyone else moved away from the standard 16 inches for certain jobs?

Just did the math on how many eggs I've cracked in 10 years

I was cleaning out my old kitchen notebooks and decided to add up the egg orders from my first restaurant job to now. The total came out to over 300,000 eggs. That's a stupid number. It hit me that I've probably spent more time cracking eggs than sleeping in the last decade. It's not a glamorous skill, but that muscle memory is now so deep I can do it one-handed while plating three other things. Who else has a weirdly high count on a basic task that just became part of you?

A guy at the Freightliner dealer told me to check the VGT actuator before pulling the turbo, and he saved me a ton of work.

I had a 2016 Cascadia with a code for low boost and was sure the turbo was shot. This old timer in the parts line said, 'Bet you a coffee it's just the actuator arm stuck.' I pulled the actuator off the turbo housing, and sure enough, the arm was seized solid from soot. A new actuator and a basic relearn fixed it in under two hours. Anyone else run into this on the DD15s?

Tossed some leftover pecan wood on my pork shoulder yesterday and it came out tasting like smoked bacon.
