Why I stopped using video tutorials and switched to plain text docs
After three weeks of following a 40 minute tutorial on building a simple form, I realized I had copied code without understanding a single line. Working through a text guide with small exercises took me two evenings, but I finally knew why each tag does what it does. Has anyone else found that reading beats watching when you're brand new to this?
Watched a buddy do the exact same thing last summer, sat through like 12 hours of some guy typing code on YouTube and still couldn't explain what a div was. Then he grabbed a free text guide with little practice bits at the end of each section, and something just clicked for him in a couple days. Idk, maybe pausing and actually typing stuff out yourself beats someone else doing it at 2x speed.
