Oh man, isn't it CRAZY how much better it gets? I did the same thing for like five years before my friend shoved a bag of whole beans at me and I finally got the hint. Now I can't even go back to pre-ground, it literally tastes like cardboard water to me too.

You waited 3 whole years to switch from pre-ground coffee? That's dedication to a bad habit, I gotta say. I finally switched to grinding my own beans about 6 months ago and even just medium roast stuff from the store is a world better. Pre-ground always tasted dusty and flat to me, like drinking hot brown water.
